SPOKANE, Wash. — A new construction project will impact traffic on part of West Maxwell Avenue in Spokane beginning Monday.
According to the city, West Maxwell Avenue between North Walnut Street and North Elm Street will be closed in both directions from August 25 through September 19 for traffic signal upgrades.
This work is part of the Maxwell Pettet to Walnut Bike/Pedestrian project, which aims to improve bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in the area.
During the closure, Northbound Ash Street will have reduced lanes between Spofford Avenue and Maxwell Avenue. Eastbound drivers on Pettet Drive will be detoured at Belt Street to Indiana Street. Westbound drivers on West Maxwell avenue will be detoured at Monroe Street north to Northwest Boulevard or south to Boone Avenue.
Sidewalk detours may also be in place. Local access will be maintained during non-working hours.
