LEWISTON, Idaho — A Lewiston man was arrested for stealing a boat and pickup truck on Snake River Avenue in Lewiston Saturday afternoon.
According to the Lewiston Police Department, 22-year-old Chase Russell stole the truck and boat from a business and began driving erratically, including driving through a fence.
The boat fell off the trailer near D Street and Levee Bypass.
Police say Russel drove to Clarkston then back to Lewiston, where he ran away on foot near 1st Street and Beachy Street.
He then jumped into the Clearwater River and swam about 100 yards before being taken into custody by deputies with the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office.
Russel was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail on multiple charges.
