SPOKANE — Russell Wilson and Ciara are directing $250,000 toward Spokane-area families struggling with the aftermath of recent wildfires and ongoing financial hardship.
The Why Not You Foundation has committed the funds to The Salvation Army of Spokane to address immediate wildfire recovery needs and strengthen year-round support programs for children and families facing economic challenges across eastern Washington.
“The Why Not You Foundation’s extraordinary generosity comes at a critical time for Spokane,” Capt. David Cain, director of The Salvation Army of Spokane, said in a statement. “This gift allows us to respond to families who have been impacted by the wildfires while also ensuring that families who are struggling can access support throughout the year.”
The donation will support wildfire response and recovery efforts while strengthening programs including:
Sally’s House and Evangeline’s House — Emergency foster care for children from abusive or dangerous home environments.After the Bell — A safe after-school environment with structured activities and mentorship.Hope Market Food Bank and Family Resource Center — Nutritious food and essential resources.Back-to-School Shopping — Clothing, shoes and school supplies for children.Christmas Assistance — Holiday support for families experiencing hardship.Summer Camp — Camp opportunities for children regardless of family finances.
