SPOKANE, Wash. — Community members gathered at Riverfront Park on Saturday to participate in a 5K run that raised over $3,000 for fire victims in the region. The event, organized by Lulu Lemon Ambassador Andy Le Friec, directed 100% of its proceeds to the Innovia Foundation to support those affected by recent fires.
Approximately 60 participants turned out for the run, creating a diverse group of athletes and families. Competitive runners shared the course with families pushing strollers, reflecting the community’s commitment to supporting neighbors in crisis.
Le Friec covered all event permits out of his own pocket to maximize the amount of money reaching fire victims. His decision to absorb these costs ensured that every dollar collected during the race would go directly to those in need.
“It’s just important to show your neighbors that you love them, that you care,” Le Friec said. “The money helps too, but I think more than anything it’s just letting people know that they’re cared for, that they’re loved. It’s our way of giving the whole community a hug.”
Lulu Lemon stepped in as a sponsor for the event, providing coffee and donuts for participants. The refreshments created a welcoming atmosphere that encouraged community members to stay and connect with one another after completing the race.
Attendees expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support their community while enjoying the outdoors on a beautiful day. The combination of physical activity, community connection, and charitable giving created an event that addressed multiple needs at once.
The Innovia Foundation will use the funds to assist families and individuals impacted by the fires, helping them rebuild their lives and recover from losses.
