SPOKANE, Wash. — Law enforcement agencies across Eastern Washington have wrapped up a six-month operation aimed at reducing violent crime and disrupting criminal networks throughout the region.
Operation Stampede was an initiative to target violent fugitives, gang activity, repeat offenders, firearm-related crime and narcotics trafficking from March 2nd through September 11th, 2026.
In Spokane County and Spokane Valley alone, the operation resulted in 100 arrests and the recovery of 42 firearms.
Across the broader Eastern District of Washington, the results were more substantial. Law enforcement agencies arrested more than 293 fugitives, with 88 of those arrests involving gang members or gang associates. Officers cleared 336 warrants and recovered 55 firearms. Authorities also seized $2,517,378 and approximately 455 pounds of narcotics.
As part of the larger initiative, the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office and Yakima Police Department conducted Operation Stampede: Yakima Surge, a week-long enforcement push from May 3-8, 2026. That focused effort targeted violent fugitives, gang members and sex offenders throughout Yakima and Yakima County, resulting in 28 arrests.
