SPOKANE, Wash. — Fire investigators determined the cause fire at a downtown Spokane motel that killed a woman.
On Tuesday, Firefighters were called to the Tiki Lodge Motel on Second Avenue just after 11 a.m. for a fire in a second-floor room.
According to Spokane Fire Department, the fire started from an electrical outlet that then spread to the mattress.
Firefighters located a woman in the room who was pronounced dead at the scene. The Spokane County Medical Examiner will identify her at a later time.
In addition, SFD says the room’s smoke alarm had been disabled and likely contributed to the woman’s death.
