COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A car crashed through a protective barrier at the Coeur d’Alene Resort parking garage and fell to the ground Friday afternoon, according to the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department.
The vehicle landed on its roof. The two people inside were out of the vehicle by the time fire crews arrived, according to the fire department.
Both occupants suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Kimberly Boltz shared photos taken by her boyfriend, Dean Duckett, on Facebook following the crash.
Boltz said Duckett heard the sound of the parking garage railing breaking and looked up to see the car coming down.
“Dean said it was very surreal to watch,” Boltz said. “He heard the noise from the railing breaking, looked up, and down came the car.”
Boltz said Duckett immediately ran to the vehicle to help the people inside. He helped the man in the driver’s seat get out of the vehicle, while another person helped a woman get out.
Resort staff is working to make repairs to the damaged area, according to the fire department.
The circumstances that led to the crash were not immediately available.
