SPOKANE, Washington — One of Spokane’s most vibrant neighborhoods is preparing to celebrate its community this weekend with the return of the South Perry Street Fair.
The beloved tradition, now in its 24th year, opens Saturday with free, family-friendly activities throughout the South Perry District. The event will feature more than 130 artisan and craft booths, live music and dance performances, and food from local vendors.
South Perry Together, the nonprofit organization behind the event, directs proceeds back into the neighborhood. The funds support community events, beautification projects, and maintenance efforts like trash pickup throughout the district.
“We are really excited this year,” said Lily Booth, South Perry Together board president. “For the first time, we are offering historic walking tours of South Perry. We have a local historian who lives in the neighborhood and has helped us make some initializations in the neighborhood. So you can come and learn fun facts about the neighborhood and get your steps in at the same time.”
The fair features two performance stages with multiple musical acts. A busker’s corner will showcase local street performers throughout the day.
The Kids Zone in Grant Park offers free activities for families, interactive vendor booths, a petting zoo, and a City of Spokane fire engine for children to explore.
The event’s timing has shifted in recent years. Historically held the third weekend in July, this is the second year the street fair has moved to September. Vendors said the change has proven favorable since the later date eliminates the challenge of operating during mid-summer heat.
The South Perry Street fair runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
