SPOKANE, Wash. — The City of Spokane will close Washington Street next week for a grind and overlay project that includes curb ramp replacements for ADA accessibility, stormwater system upgrades, and water main replacement.
Starting Monday, Sept. 28, Washington Street closes between 8th Avenue and 6th Avenue. The closure expands Tuesday, Sept. 29, to include the section between 8th Avenue and 3rd Avenue.
Drivers traveling north on Grand Boulevard will be detoured at 7th Avenue to Division Street. Once the closure expands Tuesday, drivers on Bernard Street will be detoured at 14th Avenue to Monroe Street.
Expect slowdowns near medical facilities and Lewis & Clark High School.
The new Inland Imaging Breast Center at 799 S Stevens Street remains accessible throughout the project. Patients from the south can take Monroe or Lincoln Street, turn east onto 5th Avenue, then south onto Stevens Street. South Hill patients can access the center via Bernard Street/Ben Garnett Way, which will be open for patient access only.
The work is expected to finish by the end of October.
