SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga University held a grand opening ceremony for its new indoor baseball practice venue, the Scott and Liz Morris Family Indoor Training Facility.
The building is equipped with four indoor batting cages and two indoor pitching mounds to help the Bulldogs train during the winter months.
“You can bring any player in here and really first hand show them if you’re serious about being great as a baseball player you can get that done here,” head coach Mark Machtolf said.
The team also received a refurbished locker room. The Danny Evans Clubhouse, named after former Gonzaga coach Danny Evans who died of cancer in 2022, contains state-of-the art lockers and a film room.
The recruiting gallery has a visual display of the program’s history and accomplishments along with new team gear and uniforms.
Evans was the visionary and inspiration behind the new facility.
“To be able to see that come to life and to know that you’re honoring him and his contribution to this program and his love of baseball and love of Gonzaga is incredibly gratifying,” Athletic Director Chris Standiford said.
