LIBERTY LAKE, Wash – Liberty Lake Police are trying to determine if there are more victims of a man arrested for recording cell phone video in a stranger’s window this week.
Court documents show a homeowner on N. Aladdin Road called police Monday night when his daughter found a stranger’s cell phone outside her window.
The young woman told police she was closing her bedroom blinds for the night when she saw the cell phone in a window well.
The phone had been recording for nine minutes.
Police were able to find the phone owner’s name in the iCloud settings, leading them to Colton Nachtwey.
The responding officer had seen what he described a suspicious person walking on the sidewalk near the victim’s home. Police stopped the man who turned out to be Nachtwey.
Police say they read Nachtwey his rights and he agreed to provide a statement.
According to the statement of facts filed in Spokane County Superior Court, “Nachtwey told Officer Davison that he had hung the cell phone in the window well in hopes of getting someone getting undressed so he could later masturbate to it.”
He said he didn’t target the victim specifically, but said he “hoped that he’d get video of someone at the house through the basement window.”
Nachtwey is charged with one count of voyeurism. He’s scheduled to enter a plea Thursday afternoon.
Court records show a past felony conviction in Idaho for injury to a child.
Under conditions of his release from jail, he’s only allowed to stay at his home in Tekoa.
In a news release, Liberty Lake Police said the agency is attempting to identify additional victims. If you or someone you know suspect you may have been victimized, call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
