MEAD, Wash. — Spokane County Fire District 9 invites the public to Demo Day this Saturday, offering a glimpse into the world of firefighting.
The free, family-friendly event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Station 92, located at 3801 E Farwell Road. Attendees can watch live demonstrations, explore firefighting equipment, and meet the crews who protect their community.
Visitors can see structure fire responses, rescue operations, and vehicle extrication techniques. This year, the department is highlighting its new hands-on CPR program, giving community members the chance to learn life-saving skills.
“That is one of the things that we do as firefighters, connect with the community. Talk with them, show them what we do, and explain everything so they know and they have a good knowledge base of what we do,” said Matt Turner, Battalion Chief with Spokane County Fire District 9.
Beyond demonstrations, the event includes food vendors and giveaways, making it an engaging outing for families. The drop-in format means visitors can arrive anytime during the four-hour window.
Whether you’re curious about firefighting careers, want to learn emergency preparedness, or simply looking for a free community activity, Demo Day offers a little something for everyone.
