SEATTLE — The Kraken made sure their home opener was decided early.
Seattle scored three times in the first eight minutes and pulled away with a 6-1 win over the Calgary Flames on Sunday night at Climate Pledge Arena.
Berkly Catton opened the scoring 2:22 into the first period, and Mackie Samoskevich followed less than three minutes later with his first goal as a Kraken. Bobby McMann made it 3-0 at the 7:40 mark, sending Seattle into control before the game had settled in.
Samoskevich added his second goal late in the second period. Shane Wright also scored in the middle frame, while Jordan Eberle answered Calgary’s lone goal with a score 39 seconds later in the third.
Joey Daccord finished with 32 saves for Seattle. Morgan Frost got the Flames on the board with a power-play goal with 5:35 remaining, ending Daccord’s shutout bid and marking the first power-play goal allowed by Seattle this season.
The victory moves the Kraken to 2-1-0, and both wins have come against Calgary. Seattle also defeated the Flames in Thursday’s season opener, when six different skaters scored.
Calgary remains without a win. Goaltender Dustin Wolf stopped 21 shots but has allowed 12 goals in two starts this season, both against Seattle.
The Kraken are back home Tuesday night to face the Vegas Golden Knights. Calgary hosts Colorado on Thursday before the teams meet Seattle again on Oct. 30.
