Arlington, Texas – Spokane’s adopted team is moving onto the Round of 16, with Egypt beating Australia this afternoon. The teams were tied 1-1 after extra time, but the Pharaohs won 4-2 in penalties.
During the shootout, Australia missed its first and third shot. Those mistakes turned out to be fatal, with Egypt not missing a single shot, securing the win.
Egypt could have a tough road ahead, as they will play the winner of Argentina and Cabo Verde, with Argentina one of the favorites to reach the final.
The Pharaohs next match will be on July 7th at 9 a.m in Atlanta.
