IDAHO — An Idaho Army National Guard aircrew rescued an injured hunter after a broadhead arrow became lodged in his right calf on Sept. 8 north of Council Mountain, about three hours north of Boise.
According to the Idaho Army National Guard, a Life Flight medic was on scene, but the Life Flight helicopter could not land due to the terrain. The 1-183rd Assault Helicopter Battalion sent an HH-60 Black Hawk helicopter to hoist the patient and medic.
The crew then flew them to a landing zone, where they met the Life Flight helicopter for transport to a hospital.
The operation marks the Idaho Army National Guard’s eighth rescue in 2026.
