OLYMPIA, Wash – It’s time to dig through that pile of mail on the kitchen counter. Your ballot is probably in there and you have just a week to turn it in.
Not many voters have.
Washington’s Secretary of State’s Office shows voter turnout statewide at just 8.8% as of Tuesday afternoon.
That’s 456,000 ballots of more than 5.1 million eligible to vote in this election.
Spokane County is trending slightly higher, with 13.4% voter turnout one week before Election Day.
More than 25% of voters returned ballots in Spokane County’s primary last year.
The top two candidates in the primary will move onto the general election, regardless of party.
In Spokane County, voters are also making final decisions on an STA tax.
