STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — Two people were killed in a crash on Highway 395 this morning near Chewelah.
According to Washington State Patrol, the crash happened near Bluecreek about 90 minutes north of Spokane around 5:30 a.m.
WSP says a man and woman in a vehicle appeared to cross the centerline and crash into a garbage truck going the opposite direction. Both adults died at the scene. The garbage truck driver was not hurt.
The road is fully blocked in the area, but the Department of Transportation has a detour in place. Drivers should watch out for flaggers.
