KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho — A Coeur d’Alene man died in a boat crash on the Coeur d’Alene River near Blue Lake Saturday afternoon.
According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called out to Blue Lake around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday for a boat crash involving two people.
Deputies responded to the area and learned that a boat traveling on the river crashed and overturned, ejecting both people inside the boat.
One person surfaced and was helped by nearby boaters, while the second boater was still missing.
The Dive Team responded and found the body of the missing boater, 49-year-old Matthew C. Cross of Coeur d’Alene, in the water.
The Sheriff’s Office says alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in this crash. The incident is still under investigation.
