SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Spokane Valley Fire Department is investigating a series of suspicious fires that were set in Mirabeau Park Monday morning.
According to the fire department, the fires were discovered in multiple locations throughout the park and were similar to a series of intentionally set fires that happened along the Centennial Trail last summer.
In total, nine fires were discovered Monday morning. Investigators are actively working to determine the cause of the fires.
Arson detection dogs were deployed to help determine if flammable material was used to start the fires.
Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fires before they spread. No injuries were reported in any of the fires.
SVFD says investigators will be increasing patrols along the Centennial Trail and throughout Mirabeau Park in response to these fires.
Anyone who sees unusual activity, suspicious behavior, or smoke in the area is encouraged to call 911 as soon as possible.
