CHENEY, Wash. — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be conducting a series of prescribed burns at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge between October and March.
These prescribed fires will take place at three different locations between Finley and Reeves Lake and near West Depot Road.
These burns are part of the wildlife refuge’s plan to reduce hazardous fuels and improve wildlife habitat.
Smoke may be visible near Cheney and from the Spokane area during and after the burns.
Fish and Wildlife says all prescribed burning will be done in accordance with regional air quality guidelines.
