SPOKANE, Wash – A woman who came home to find a man burglarizing her apartment says what she experienced was like a scene from a horror movie.
Angie Kirk told 4 News Now she was initially in shock and now hopes to warn other people about what happened.
Kirk lives in apartments on South Palouse Highway near Target.
She came home Thursday night around 7:00 and saw a man in a ski mask in her bedroom.
“He was between my dresser and the bed, and I think he tried to maybe go around me, but I got in his way, and that’s when he reached out and punched me on the right side of my face,” Kirk said.
She said he also cut her with either a knife or box cutter.
“My neck hurts,” she said of the small cut. “It’s just those tiny little cuts hurt worse than something deeper. But, yeah, my neck is what hurts the most.”
After assaulting her, the burglar escaped through a window and took off into the fog.
Police searched the area with a K9 and looked from the air, but did not find the burglar.
Spokane Police think the man may have gotten in through an unsecured sliding door.
Kirk was able to tell police the burglar was a white man with blue eyes and blonde eyelashes. She thinks he was between 5’6″ and 5’10” with a heavy build.
He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt that had a white fleur-de-lis on the left side.
“I think I was still kind of in shock a little bit for a while. And then when I got home and was able to see the black film dust over everything I owned, and, then it kind of sunk in that the last couple of hours were my own little scary movie,” she said.
