SPOKANE, Wash. – Over 300 players representing over 40 countries will be gathering at The Podium beginning Tuesday for Table Tennis competitions hosted by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and World Table Tennis (WTT).
Both able-bodied athletes and para-athletes get the chance to practice and compete in Spokane from August 5-12. High-level para-athletes will compete in the ITTF Elite Championships. Up and coming able-bodied athletes will be competing at two WTT Feeder Series over the course of the week.
Spokane Sports says it’s the first time a table tennis event is inside The Podium.
“It’s amazing just cause it’s such a wide range of players and styles,” said Team USA coach and 2004 table tennis Olympian Mark Hazinski. “They got the wheelchair players and the able-bodied players. As a spectator, I think it’s really fun to watch.”
