COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Coeur d’Alene voters appear to be passing a measure that would raise the amount property owners are paying to support local schools.
Coeur d’Alene Schools asked voters to approve a levy that raises the current rate from $91 a year per $100,000 of assessed value to $110 per $100,000.
For a $600,000 home, that’s about $114 a year.

The district says the increase is necessary to keep up with inflation and rising costs and would not pay for any new programs.
If passed, the new rate would take effect next summer and continue for two years.
