SPOKANE, Wash. — The City of Spokane is considering raising rates for essential household services to cover mounting maintenance costs.
The city conducted a cost of service analysis to determine how much rates would need to increase over the next two years to sustain current service levels, repairs, and overall maintenance of water, sewage, and waste management systems.
If approved, Spokane residents would see their bills rise by $3 per month, or approximately $40 annually. The additional revenue would help the city maintain these critical infrastructure systems.
The Spokane City Council will vote on the proposed rate increase at its next regularly scheduled meeting on October 14th.
