SPOKANE, Wash. — Monday is the last chance to support the Hope 4 Kids Hygiene Drive, a community effort that provides basic hygiene essential to K-12 students facing economic hardships.
The initiative, a partnership between Four News Now and Project Beauty Share, addresses a gap in support for struggling families. Hygiene products are not covered by SNAP benefits, leaving many families to choose between purchasing necessities or meeting other basic needs.
“The inspiration is just the fact that students are going to school without these products; they are getting bullied they are feeling ashamed,” said Julie Farley, founder and executive director of Project Beauty Share. “We just really wanted to step up and help out.”
Last year’s drive collected nearly 11,000 pounds of products worth more than $500,000. This year, organizers are working to surpass that achievement while expanding the program’s reach.
Project Beauty Share is extending the drive to six additional school districts, broadening the number of students who will benefit from donated items. The expansion reflects growing demand for these services across the region.
Community members can contribute in multiple ways. Monetary donations are accepted online. Those who prefer shopping can purchase items through a dedicated Amazon Wishlist. Alternatively, people can drop off new, unused hygiene products at any Numerica Credit Union location or select CVS stores throughout the area.
