BONNERS FERRY, Idaho — The City of Bonners Ferry water department issued a precautionary boil advisory Tuesday after detecting E. coli bacteria in a drinking water sample collected Aug. 3, according to a public notice from the city.
Repeat samples have been collected and results are expected by mid-day Aug. 6. Those results will determine whether the contamination is localized or widespread, the water department said.
The water department will provide an update via the City of Bonners Ferry Facebook page once results are available. During a boil advisory, boil tap water for at least one minute before drinking, cooking or brushing teeth. Bottled water is also a safe alternative.
