Expect dry conditions and mild temperatures through Thursday before a strong system arrives in the Inland Northwest.
Wednesday brings variable clouds and dry weather with temperatures reaching the lower to mid 70s. The pleasant weather continues through Thursday before some major changes ahead of the weekend.
A stronger system arrives Friday, bringing widespread rain and gusty winds. Peak wind gusts will reach 25 to 35 mph, with a chance of a few gusts near 50 mph in the Columbia Basin. Rainy weather will begin Friday morning, with a few thunderstorms also possible Friday afternoon and evening. Rain amounts could reach up to half an inch in the northern mountains. The rain-snow line will lower to 5500 feet Friday night, so it might not just be rain falling up in the mountains.
It will be a chilly weekend with highs around 60 and a chance for some frosty valleys through early Monday.
