HAYDEN, Idaho, — The City of Hayden has rejected a proposed Enhanced Law Enforcement Services contract with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, deciding the current proposal does not meet the city’s standards.
The city completed its evaluation following a detailed review of the contract’s costs, structure, and performance expectations. Officials emphasized the importance of responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources and the need for any agreement to provide clear value, transparency, and accountability.
The Hayden City Council is seeking a better understanding of how the countywide Justice Fund supports baseline law enforcement services compared to additional services funded directly by the city.
The City of Hayden will continue working closely with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office on a revised contract.
