SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash – The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office has suspended the search for a man who drowned Friday while paddleboarding in Bear Lake.
The sheriff’s office says the man was not wearing a life jacket when he fell off the board and quickly slipped under the water.
He was not seen again.
Crews searched on the water in kayaks, underwater with a dive team and remote operated vehicle, a sonar device and aerial drones, but could not locate him.
The sheriff’s office says large amounts of silt and aquatic vegetation made for extremely low visibility and made their search efforts ineffective.
His name has not been released.
