SPOKANE, Wash. — A 34-year-old Spokane woman faces a vehicular assault charge after she struck a 7-year-old boy on a bicycle in an apartment complex parking lot Monday evening, according to the Spokane Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 7:30 p.m. June 22 to the area of 121 E. Wedgewood Ave. on the city’s north side after 911 callers reported hearing screaming in the parking lot and that a child had been hit by a vehicle.
When officers arrived, they found the boy with visible injuries from the collision. Medics transported him to a local hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Investigators determined the child was riding a bicycle in the parking lot when the vehicle struck him.
Officers made contact with the driver and quickly observed signs of impairment.
Authorities noted the driver was cooperative throughout the investigation.
Police identified the driver as Adrianna N. McConnell, 34. Officers took her into custody and booked her into the Spokane County Jail on one count of vehicular assault.
The Spokane Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
