PULLMAN, Wash. – The No. 9 Gonzaga Bulldogs (18-1) lost star big Braden Huff this week to a knee injury, but that didn’t hinder an 86-65 drubbing of Washington State (8-11).
Gonzaga’s Jalen Warley and Graham Ike filled the void, Warley grabbing three steals and swatting two blocks in the first half alone, and Ike leading GU with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
The Zags also dominated the boards, outrebounding WSU 43-29, and 17-10 on the offensive glass. Gonzaga further punished Wazzu off forcing 17 turnovers, giving up only eight.
Washington State looks to rebound against another tough opponent: at the San Francisco Dons this Sunday.
Huff is expected to miss the next 4-8 weeks with a left knee injury. Eight weeks from tonight marks the start of the NCAA Tournament Round of 64.
Gonzaga has a shorter turnaround, heading west to face the Seattle U Redhawks at Climate Pledge Arena this Saturday.
