SPOKANE — A domestic violence suspect was arrested Monday evening following a three-hour standoff with law enforcement near the Timberline Mobile Park in Spokane Valley, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at 3:30 p.m. to reports that 30-year-old Austin G. Vogtritter was at the residence in violation of a court-ordered protection order, according to the sheriff’s office. Officers moved the victim to safety and confirmed Vogtritter was inside with access to knives.
Deputies surrounded the home and called for backup including the Warrant Service Group and K9 units. For three hours, officers made repeated announcements urging Vogtritter to surrender, but he refused to comply, according to deputies.
At 6:50 p.m., after obtaining a search warrant, officers entered the home. A police dog located Vogtritter, who was hiding. He was safely taken into custody and provided medical treatment, the sheriff’s office said.
Vogtritter was booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of residential burglary and violation of a domestic violence protection order, deputies said.
No injuries occurred during the incident, according to deputies.
