SANDPOINT, Idaho — Have you ever dreamed of owning your own castle? How about a castle on a mountain?
Schweitzer Castle and the neighboring Chateau de Melusine, located in the Schweitzer area, are for sale for over $6 million. With winding staircases, suits of armor, swords and a moat out front, the buildings are meant to mimic the medieval style.
“It even has a smell of a castle,” real estate agent Brenda Burk said. “It really hits all of your senses. It feels like you’re time traveling. It feels like you’re going back in time to a different era and a different place.”
The castle has changed hands since it was finished in 2010.
For current owner Norman Fargo, it was home for nearly a decade. Fargo and his family lived in the castle before turning it into an Airbnb for the last few years.
All the antiques inside are Fargo’s finds from around the world.
“I really am hoping that the people that buy it, the person that buys it, has the same passion that I have and enjoys it,” Fargo said.
Local realtors toured the property on Tuesday.
“I pulled up and I was like ‘Oh my gosh! It’s an actual castle!'” said Jen Alexander, a local realtor who attended the event. “I love it.”
