RICHMOND, Va. – The Spokane Velocity are beginning to turn things around.
After losing four of their previous five matches, Spokane earned its second straight victory Saturday with a 2-0 road win over the Richmond Kickers.
The Velocity wasted little time getting on the board, taking the lead in the 10th minute on an own goal forced by pressure in the attacking third. Spokane doubled the advantage before halftime when Ibrahim Janis Covi scored his first goal of the season.
Richmond generated more chances after the break, but Spokane’s defense held firm. Goalkeeper Sean Lewis recorded four saves to secure the clean sheet and preserve the two-goal lead.
The win improves Spokane to 8-2-6 on the season and gives the club some momentum after a difficult stretch earlier this month.
