FERRY COUNTY, Wash. — Update (July 25th at 12pm) The Modrite fire has grown to over 9,000 acres burning near Inchelium in Ferry county and there is 0% containment. An estimated 5 structures have been lost.
According to the Colville Agency, the lightning-caused Modrite Fire is estimated to be over 9,000 with no containment. It is burning in tall grass, brush and timber.
Firefighters constructed dozer lines along the western side of the fire.
Level 3 (GO NOW!) evacuations are in place for Wilmont Creek Road from Falls Creek Road to near four corners. Wilmont Road is closed at Twin Lakes.
Level 2 (GET SET) evacuations are in place for the intersection of Silver Creek Road (Kewa-Meteor Road) and Upper Falls Creek Road (Smoke Ranch), along Silver Creek Road (Kewa-Meteor Road) to Kewa Cemetery, west to Star Road and south to Upper Falls Creek Road. Conditions in this area may change rapidly.
Level 1 (Be Ready) evacuations are in place between Falls Creek Road to north of Kewa Road. Silver Creek Road is closed between Four Corners and Kewa Road.
People living in the Level 3 zone should leave immediately. An evacuation shelter has been set up at Kettle Falls Middle School, located at 101 West 11th Avenue in Kettle Falls. Pets are welcome but have to be kept in kennels.
