GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — A fast-moving wildfire in Grant County has prompted authorities to issue Level 3 “GO!” evacuation orders for Sun Lake Campground, forcing an immediate departure for anyone in the area, officials said Monday.
Level 3 is the highest evacuation level and signals an immediate threat to life. Authorities warn that people in the affected area must leave now, even if they cannot see the fire.
“If you stay, you may not be rescued,” officials said in the evacuation notice.
Authorities also closed State Route 17 and State Route 2 as the fire spread rapidly through the region. Drivers who planned to travel through the area should avoid the roads and find alternate routes.
The Grant County Sherrif’s Office has also posted; South end of Banks Lake Boats and watercraft should avoid the south end of Banks Lake for firefighting aircraft working on a wildfire in the area.
