LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Vegas Golden Knights pulled off a 5-4 double-overtime win after a furious Carolina Hurricanes four-goal comeback nearly stunned Vegas on home ice.
Mitch Marner scored a natural hat trick, the fastest hat trick in Stanley Cup Final history in six minutes and 10 seconds. Marner’s four third-period points tie the all-time Final record for most in a period with Frank Foysten (1919 Seattle) and Ted Lindsay (1955 Detroit).
Marner is the first player since Patrick Kane in 2013 to score a natural hat trick in a Stanley Cup Final; the two are the only two to do so since 1996.
The Hurricanes came an overtime-winner away from the first four-goal third-period comeback since the 1982 Los Angeles comeback over Edmonton.
Game 4 sticks in Las Vegas on Tuesday, June 9, at 5:00 p.m. on ABC.
