COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office confirmed, alongside the USDA Forest Service, that one of its helicopters, known as ‘Rescue 3’, was flown to Coeur d’Alene to help with training.
People living near the nursery reported hearing and seeing the helicopter flying low, hovering, and being much louder than helicopters that are higher in the air.
Rescue 3 is equipped to conduct medivac operations to get seriously-hurt people to hospitals as quickly as possible.
The helicopter was flown to the USDA Forest Service Nursery in the area of Kathleen Ave. and Atlas Rd. Wednesday afternoon to help firefighters learn how medivac systems operate, according to Patrick Lair with Idaho Panhandle National Forests.
Rescue 3 was deployed during the 2022 Gray Fire in Medical Lake, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
