SPOKANE, Wash. — No matter how old you are, the students at Gonzaga Prep showed that there’s always a way to help your neighbor. They teamed up all month long and donated thousands of pounds of food to families in need.
In past years, students gathered more than 100,000 pounds of food during this annual drive. All the food gets delivered to nearby food banks, families and local charities.
“We’ve been collecting for about two, three weeks after school, going to stores and going house to house passing out bags. The chaos is good it’s a beautiful thing,” said Gonzaga Prep senior John Malsam.
Malsam said it’s obviously fun for them, but it’s more enjoyable when people needing a helping hand get what they need this Thanksgiving.
