COLVILLE, Wash. — President Joe Biden approved a Major Disaster Declaration for the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation to help in wildfire recovery efforts.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) now has federal funding available for the Tribes and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency work to repair or replace facilities damaged by wildfires in July and August of this year.
Federal funding is also available for hazard mitigation for the Tribes.
FEMA says Yolanda J. Jackson has been appointed as the Federal Coordinating Officer for recovery operations in the area. Jackson will be responsible for ensuring the federal funding is going where it is needed most and coordinating relief efforts between different agencies and organizations.
