EAST VALLEY SCHOOL PROPOSITION NO. 1 CAPITAL LEVY FOR SAFETY, SECURITY, TECH, INFRASTRUCTURE
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash – Just days after a leaky roof allowed rainwater to pour into East Valley High School classrooms, voters are so far choosing to approve a school levy to pay for that type of repair.
East Valley School District asked voters to approve a capital projects fun levy to pay for things like roof replacements and repair, communication systems, parking and traffic upgrades and technology.
This replaces a levy that expires at the end of the year.
The average homeowner would pay about $346 per year.
The district tried to pass a $220 million bond and this levy earlier this year, but only 46% of voters approved.
Just last week, six EVHS classrooms were damaged when a rainstorm passed through, drawing attention to the need for the improvements.
