BOISE, Idaho – Idaho voters are so far rejecting a measure that would repeal Idaho’s abortion ban.
IDAHO PROP 1 RIGHT TO ABORT BEFORE FETUS VIABILITY
Prop 1 allows abortions in the state up until fetal viability or beyond in cases of medical emergencies.
It also gives healthcare providers liability protections.
Voting no makes no changes to Idaho’s current law, one of the strictest abortion bans in the nation.
Supporters of Prop 1 say Idaho’s current abortion laws are dangerous and that a vote for this measure allows people to make their own reproductive health care decisions.
Much of the money spent to oppose the measure has come from religious organizations. The LDS Church donated $1 million to a political action that opposes the measure. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise added another $300,000 to the opposition.
