SPOKANE, Wash. — There is now reason to believe that student and staff data has been compromised in a recent network security incident involving Spokane Public Schools, the district announced Thursday.
Spokane Public Schools says cybersecurity specialists are working with the district’s IT team to identify what specific information may have been affected. The district says it will communicated with people who have been impacted as soon as details are verified.
SPS was first made aware of the cybersecurity incident on September 20. It has been working with third-party cybersecurity specialists on the investigation ever since.
The district says the investigation is still ongoing and there is no current estimate for when that will be completed.
