SPOKANE, Wash – Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown has ordered the lowering of all city flags to half-staff to honor the Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies shot this week near Spangle.
One deputy has died from his injuries, the other is not expected to survive.
Flags will remain lowered through the weekend.
“We are deeply saddened and troubled by the awful act of violence that happened in our community this week,” Mayor Brown said. “The City of Spokane extends its deepest sympathies to the deputies’ families, friends, and colleagues with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.”
The City of Spokane encourages anyone with a flag outside of their home or business to join in lowering the flags.
