MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Each year, Alan and Cheryl Coulter spend weeks decorating the Coulter family holiday house in Moses Lake for Halloween and Christmas. But after years of giving back to the community, the family announced this year will be their last.
The Coulters began this picture-perfect tradition with light archways. When more and more people kept getting out of their cars to walk through and take photos, the display just continued to grow.
“People have known over the years that they bring the kids here and they are going to have a good time because it’s an event really,” Bryton Redal said. “It’s become kind of a part of the community over the years.”
While visiting the display is free, each year the Coulters ask visitors to donate to different causes in the Moses Lake community.
This year, they are asking people to help with a cause that hits close to home: their nephew Liam was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma in August.
“He’s in and out of the hospital. He will be there for many more months. This year we thought Liam and the family would be perfect to help them and their journey,” Cheryl Coulter said.
