SPOKANE, Wash. — A community-wide effort to address a critical gap in student wellness has concluded, bringing relief to thousands of children across the Spokane region who have struggled without access to basic hygiene products.
The Project Beauty Share Hope 4 Kids Hygiene Drive, a collaborative initiative between 4 News Now, Numerica Credit Union and CVS Pharmacy, collected donations at local Numerica branches and CVS stores wrapped up its collection phase. The response from the community exceeded expectations.
The drive addresses a real problem facing students in the region. Children without access to hygiene products have reported experiencing embarrassment at school, becoming targets for bullying and, in some cases, refusing to attend school altogether. These barriers to attendance can have lasting impacts on academic performance and student well-being.
“The response from our community and Numerica members has been incredible and it just shows that Spokane’s a really special place,” said Amanda Swan, Numerica’s Vice President of Impact and Communications. “When we hear there’s a need we really rise to the occasion.”
The collected donations are currently being weighed and sorted before distribution. Once that process is complete, the hygiene products will be sent to 15 school districts throughout the region, ensuring that thousands of students gain access to essential items they may not otherwise afford.
You can still donate to Project Beauty Share through its website or wish list.
