SPOKANE, Wash — The hit show Dancing with the Stars is searching for its next professional dancer in the spin-off streaming series Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro.
The series is exclusively streaming on Hulu and releases a new episode each week.
Episode 6, which premiered on Monday, featured Spokane’s Jeremy Urann.
Urann is a Mt. Spokane graduate who has a background in musical theatre and hip-hop dancing.
He is also currently producing and acting in a locally produced short film called Hotshots.
He was brought on for this episode as an amateur dancer who was taught a ballroom routine by one of the “pro” contestants.
“When I got the call, and they were like ‘can you be in Australia in two weeks?’ it was unreal, and of course, I dropped everything I was doing and was like ‘yes!’ said Urann. “I grew up dancing. Dancing has been a huge part of my life and my career. So, when they called, it was an immediate yes.”
While Urann said he has some dance experience, he said the ballroom steps and technique were a whole new challenge, especially when he only had 2 days to learn the Quickstep routine.
“So, in ballroom your shoulders have to be down, chest out, elbows up the whole time,” said Urann. “In hip-hop you’re all sunken down, shoulders forward. It’s very hard movements. So, it’s a different way of thinking.”
You can watch the episode of Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro featuring Jeremy and his partner Selena right now on Hulu.
Season 35 of Dancing with the Stars premieres on Tuesday, September 15th on KXLY.
