SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Mark Few is officially a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer.
Few was inducted Saturday night in Springfield, Massachusetts, capping a Gonzaga career that has helped establish the Bulldogs as one of college basketball’s premier programs.
“It’s absolutely mind-boggling,” Few said during his speech, reflecting on growing up in a town of just 1,500 people with one stoplight.
Since taking over in 1999, Few has led Gonzaga to the NCAA Tournament every season, 23 West Coast Conference regular-season titles and five Elite Eight appearances. The Bulldogs have also reached the national championship game twice, in 2017 and 2021.
There’s no national championship on Few’s résumé, but his impact on Gonzaga is measured by much more than one game.
For nearly three decades, the Bulldogs have been a national contender and a team capable of playing with anyone in the country.
Few helped make that standard part of Gonzaga basketball.
And now, his place among the sport’s all-time great coaches is official.
