CHERRY CREEK, Idaho — Law enforcement agencies arrested a man following an incident in the Cherry Creek area of Benewah County.
The Benewah County Sheriff’s Office and Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police executed a search warrant and arrest warrant at a residence after locating a man on a felony warrant. When deputies arrived and commanded the subject to exit the home, he refused to comply and barricaded himself inside.
The Benewah County Sheriff’s Office called for backup from the Kootenai County SWAT Team. However, before the tactical team arrived on scene, the subject made the decision to exit the residence voluntarily. Law enforcement took him into custody.
The man was arrested on 38 counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and one count of careless discharge of a firearm. During the search warrant execution, investigators collected evidence related to the ongoing investigation.
The investigation is still ongoing.
