RATHDRUM, Idaho — A Rathdrum man was arrested for beating his 11-year-old daughter.
32-year-old Aaron Dyk is charged with attempted murder and felony injury to a child.
According to court documents, officers responded to reports of Dyk’s daughter having a seizure last Friday.
When law enforcement arrived, she was verbally unresponsive.
Dyk told officers he believed it was due to being hit with a belt for “disciplinary reasons” the week before. According to court documents, Dyk told officers he went overboard and caused bruising that spread throughout her back and legs.
Court documents said the girl’s injuries were also causing her kidneys to fail.
Investigators asked the family why the 11-year-old was not taken to the hospital when they noticed her condition was worsening. The family said they were worried Dyk would be arrested.
